From the north you may see in the map, the Galilee divided into Upper Galilee, Lower Galilee and Western Galilee; the Golan Heights, The Jezreel Valley and the Jordan Valley.
As we move south we have the big cities of Akko and Haifa on both sides of Haifa Bay. The coastal plain called Sharon and the Mediterranean coast full of great beaches reaching Ashkelon.
To the East you may see the areas of Samaria and Judaea and in the middle the Magical city of Jerusalem the Capital of Israel.
Further south is the Negev Desert reaching all the way to Eilat in the southernmost tip of the country.
Seas and Lakes
The Hula, then a little further south the Sea of Galilee or Kineret and as the Jordan keeps going down you may see the Dead Sea. Continue through the Arabah Valley and Reach the Red Sea and the city of Eilat.
On the west we have the “Big Sea” the Mediterranean that bathes the coasts of Italy, Spain, Greece and all other countries.
In the 70 years since its independence Israel has developed from a rural state with many villages and a few towns to a country of big cities high skyscrapers and a high population density in certain areas.
The central part of Israel going from Ashdod and Rehovot in the south to Netanya in the north. If viewed from the air it is a mole that houses almost half of the population of the State of Israel.
The Negev Desert
David Ben Gurion had a dream that the Negev should be populated. He and his wife Paula moved to Sde Boker in the Negev Desert and are buried there.
But the Negev is still empty relatively speaking with a big city as Beer Sheba and only small towns all the way to Eilat in the Red Sea.
Haifa is the only real big city in the north, then all the important cities of Akko, Nahariya, Karmiel, Nazareth, Safed, Tiberias and Kiryat Shmona.
Western Wall in Jerusalem
Monuments and Attractions
We’ll learn about the Israel Museum, just renovated at a cost of USD $ 100 Million; the Western Wall in Jerusalem, the holiest site for Jews all over the world; all Christian places of importance.
As you see our country is long and narrow. It is small in size but big in development, inventions, science and agriculture.
As you go through the pages or our site you may come back to this map of Israel to find the places we talk about and their location.
To give you an idea you may drive all the way from Metula the northernmost city to Eilat in the South in around eight hours. But we recommend doing it in a week or ten days to really know the Holy land.
